Woman killed in I-75 crash in Brandon

BRANDON — A 19-year-old Jacksonville woman was killed Saturday when her 1994 Ford Mustang inexplicably veered off Interstate 75 south of State Road 60, struck the center guardrail and overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 1 p.m. accident killed Emaleigh Dawn Rivell, A passenger, John Rowland Harper, 21, of Orlando, suffered minor injuries, the FHP said. Harper and Rivell were both wearing their seat belts.

Rivell was driving northbound when her car left the road. FHP said the vehicle came to rest on the southbound grass median.
