Tractor-trailer driver sought in I-75 hit-and-run – Sarasota Herald

The tractor-trailer and a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo were traveling southbound about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, when the truck driver attempted to change lanes near mile marker 228, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The truck driver failed to see the car in the center lane, causing the trailer’s left side to sideswipe the vehicle’s right side.

The impact caused the car’s driver to lose control of the vehicle that rotated and eventually overturned in the median, according to FHP.

The 83-year-old male driver and the 81-year-old female passenger, both of Sarasota, were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The truck driver continued southbound.

The truck is described as pulling a white trailer with damage to the left side. Its back door is a metallic silver with four rectangles that reflect light. The tag had numbers 77599 on it, but the state is unknown. The truck has black mud flaps with the white letters “KB” on them.

Anyone with information about the crash can call Trooper Monge at 751-7647.
