Tow truck driver hit while pulling car out of ditch

A tow truck driver was taken to the hospital after investigators say he was hit by a car on Interstate 75, while doing his job this morning.

At about 9 a.m. Saturday, the man was out of his truck, attempting to pull a vehicle out of a ditch along the snow-covered highway when the crash happened.

Sgt. Jeff Kramer of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the man suffered “serious head injuries” when he was hit and thrown into the rear window of the car he was trying to tow.

Kramer blamed the snow but said it’s too early to know who was at fault in the crash.

“It’s just really dangerous out here on the roadway,” he said at the scene.

The driver of the other car, a female, was also taken to Sycamore Hospital in Miamisburg with no visible injuries.

Kramer said speed was most likely a factor in the wreck.

“That’s the key to winter driving, just take it slow,” he said.

Neither driver was identified by troopers at the scene.
