VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) – Georgia Department of Transportation crews will be taking core samples of the middle and outside lanes of Interstate 75 northbound and southbound Wednesday, Feb. 5. They will work at one-mile intervals from milepost 17 to milepost 31 (immediately south of the Cook County line).

When crews reach milepost 31 they will turn around and sample lanes on I-75 south.  Every attempt will be made to leave two lanes open at all times.

The Georgia State Patrol will assist with traffic control. Motorists are asked to slow down approaching the work zone and give their full attention to the road.

Sampling will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5 and could take four or five hours.
