Motorcyclist ejected into trailer after I-75 crash

A 25-year-old motorcycle rider is in critical condition after crashing into the back of a trailer on Interstate 75 early Friday.

James Timothy Stirk of Lehigh Acres was driving a 2002 Yamaha motorcycle north on I-75 near the 129 mile marker around 1:45 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. He failed to slow down for a Dodge Ram towing a trailer that was driving in front of him.

Stirk, who was wearing a helmet, collided with the trailer and was ejected into the trailer, reports said. He was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Stirk is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol, according to the report. The wreck remains under investigation.
