Traffic along Interstate 75 near the 35 mile marker was slowed Monday after a three-vehicle crash, according to Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott.

The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. as Claudine Sproles, 43, of Louisville, drove north in a 2009 Toyota Corolla in the lane nearest the center barrier and came upon a patch of snow and ice. She swerved into the middle lane to avoid the snow and struck the left wheel area of a 2014 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Thomas Sigmon, 51, of North Carolina. A third driver, Ruth Jaeger, 31, of Michigan, saw the collision and swerved her 2009 Toyota Sienna van from the middle lane into the third lane, where she struck the patch of snow and ice, causing the van to spin out and strike the cement barrier.

No one was injured in the crash, including a girl who rode in Sprole’s vehicle and Jaeger’s husband and the three children who rode in the Sienna.

Traffic was slowed as emergency responders worked to clear the crash.

Parrott continues his investigation.
