I-75 back open after serious crash near Tifton – WALB

TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Georgia State Patrol has confirmed one person is dead in a crash that  completely stopped northbound traffic on Interstate 75 Tuesday morning.

Department of Transportation officials said it happened around 10:30 a.m. at mile marker 64 near the ABAC Exit and campus.

Officials said the victim that died was a man, but have not released his name, or any other names of those involved in the crash. Those names are being withheld pending notification of kin.

Crews have identified the vehicles in the crash: FedEx truck, a Toyota Prius, and a GMC Envoy. Three male drivers and one female passenger were involved in the wreck. There was no immediate word on the conditions of the survivors.

The Georgia State Patrol, Tifton Police and Tift County Sheriff’s deputies initially responded to the scene. GSP has taken over the investigation and said charges are pending.

Officials said they are still looking into how the crash happened.
