CORBIN, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police say an early morning fatal accident has led to a murder charge.

Police say 49-year-old Howard M. White, of Bagdad, Ky., was killed when a white panel truck hit him alongside Interstate 75 in Laurel County early Saturday morning.

A news release says the truck’s driver, 24-year-old Austin T. Meredith, of Sevierville, Tenn., was arrested after police decided he was under the influence of alcohol. Meredith has been charged with murder, DUI, wanton endangerment and several commercial vehicle violations.

White had pulled his wrecker over to the side of the road around 4 a.m. when he was struck. His two passengers were unharmed.
