Driver who caused deadly motorcycle crash on I-4 sought

Tampa, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help gathering information on a deadly motorcycle crash on I-4 Sunday afternoon.

Troopers say on Feb. 16, Jeffrey and Gina Fogel of Brandon were heading west on the northbound I-4 entrance ramp to I-75 on a motorcycle when a white 4-door sedan with temporary plates merged into their lane from the ramp to head south on I-75. In order to avoid colliding with the car, Jeffrey swerved and lost control of the motorcycle and traveled onto the center grass median.

Both Jeffrey and Gina were ejected from the bike and taken to Tampa General Hospital. Jeffrey, 46, died the next day from his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Gina, 43, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Anyone with any information on this crash is asked to call FHP at 813-631-4020.
