KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville police say a driver was killed Friday morning in a crash into a bridge support on Interstate 40 east.
The driver was traveling on I-40 east near the Strawberry Plains exit when the car left the road for an unknown reason at 11:58 a.m. and struck the bridge column.
Police say the driver was killed on impact.
The investigation continues. The victim’s name is not being released until the next of kin is notified.
