2 dead in Bay County crash involving three vehicles

PINCONNING TOWNSHIP, MI — Blowing snow creating white out conditions could be a contributing factor to a crash in Pinconning Township that resulted in the deaths of two people Friday afternoon, Michigan State Police reported.

Troopers were dispatched to a crash on southbound Interstate 75 at approximately 12:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, to investigate a crash involving three vehicles.

Authorities closed a section of the highway at 12:49 p.m. while they investigated.

The investigation indicates an SUV traveling south on I-75 struck the rear of a plow truck that was also traveling south. The SUV spun out of control and was struck by a semi that was also traveling south. Both occupants in the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene, State Police officials said.

Police did not release the victim’s names.

State police were assisted by the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division, Bay County Sheriff’s Department, Pinconning and Fraser Township Fire departments and McLaren Ambulance Services.
